NaBloPoMo 2011: Oops, I Did It Again.

Look over there, to the right, below those adorable social media stars that D created for me, and below the Pinterest badge.

See that? That badge that says “NaBloPoMo is Glorious Madness”? Gah. And yikes.

NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) is an ongoing monthly “event” during which those who participate commit to post for the entire month, each and every day. Participants sign up at the beginning of each month.

November is the largest of the monthly celebrations of NaBloPoMo. Thousands of bloggers sign up in their commitment to post each and every day in November, and there are even prizes offered.

I did NaBloPoMo in 2007, 2008, and 2009. I hated every minute of it.

Well, not really. “Hate” is such a strong word. With just a few exceptions, I have generally been a pretty prolific blogger since I started in 2007. My posts may not be all masterpieces–in fact, very few of them are, really–but I have rarely had trouble coming up with ideas. Usually a lack of posting is related to a squeeze on my available time and not a shortage of ideas or desire. The thing is, when you commit to blog daily for thirty straight days, suddenly it becomes harder.

That’s why I like to refer to NaBloPoMo as NaBloPoMoFo, because, well, you can probably figure it out.

I skipped last year because I was working on my book and didn’t want to deal with the stress of the commitment. (Truth be told, there is no penalty for not posting daily, but as you may know, I go big or go home!)

When I started seeing promos for NaBloPoMo 2011, I was absolutely certain I wouldn’t do it. I even declared out loud (err, on Twitter) to friends that I wasn’t going to be one of the crazy ones this year.

Well, call me Crazy. I’m in.

I hope I’ll see you here (or at least sense your presence) through November 30, and hey–crazy thought–maybe even beyond that. How about it? You can subscribe to my feed by clicking here.

Are you Crazy too? Let me know in the comments!

If it means I get to hang out with you, yes, I’m crazy as ALL get out 🙂 Plus, you write good.

    Crazies all around!

We can be crazy together… maybe even provide a little blog fodder for each other. Good luck!

You’re right, NaBloPoMoFo is more accurate.

Hello fellow crazy person! I found you via the twitter hash tag for NaBloPoMo. I like your re-wording [re-acronyming?] of this project. Very nice.

Good luck my little crazy American friend. I’ll be here to follow your adventures and hopefully be inspired to write a bit more – after jumping back onto the bandwagon a couple of days ago.

Well, I’m not a blogger (NoBlo) but I’m IN too! Selfishly, I am really glad I get to read you every day. A day without Scrawlsie is like a day without sunshine. Or maybe I’m just thinking of Detroit in February.

    Happy that you’re crazy

All aboard the crazy train! Woowoo!

Crazy can be a good thing. Especially when you have others to support you. Go Mel Go.
