Have you ever tried to do something that you thought you’d never be able to do because it was too hard?

I have. Er, I mean, I AM.

If you follow along on my personal blog, Suburban Scrawl, you know that I have been in training for the past eight weeks to do my first 5K, which will be at the BlogHer conference in New York City, in less than two weeks. I don’t consider myself a runner. In fact, before I started this training, I hated running.

Truth be told, I still don’t like it very much. However, being a group cycling instructor, I enjoy the running a *wee bit* as way to cross-train, because frankly, parts of my legs awakened when I began running, and I never even knew they were asleep!

One of the things I really have to be careful about while I’m running, especially on the days when I don’t get my rear in gear nice and early, before it gets hot outside, is drinking enough. I try to drink lots of water (plain AND mixed with Crystal Light Pure Fitness drink mix, of course!) all day long, to keep my body hydrated not only while I’m exerting myself, but for the other twenty-three hours and fifteen minutes, too!

Being a late-bloomer, workout-wise, I never imagined myself even finishing the training that I’m doing, let alone completing a 5K, which of course, I DO PLAN TO FINISH. What’s been most impactful to me during this experience is that I set my sights a little higher than normal, and I’m succeeding. I can. I can. I can.

I will. I will. I will. And I’m proud of myself already, for what I’ve accomplished so far.

What else can I do? Hmmm. Seems to me, the sky’s the limit!

What about you? What’s Your Proudest Fitness Achievement? Here’s how you can tell me about it, and win:

I’m giving away a $100 Visa gift card as part of this review program, sponsored by Blogher and Crystal Light Pure Fitness. You’ve got three ways to answer; please note that a separate comment must be left for each of them (include your e-mail address, too!):

1. Leave a comment telling me about your proudest fitness achievement.
2. Tweet about this contest and leave a comment with a link to the tweet.
3. Follow this blog publicly with Google Connect, and leave a comment telling me that you just started following. If you already follow, leave me a comment telling me that!

I will be awarding the $100 Visa gift card at the end of this campaign, to a winner chosen using random.org. If I don’t get a response from you within one week of my e-mail to you, I will have to choose another winner.

You also need to get yourself over to the BlogHer.com Crystal Light Pure Fitness exclusive offers page, because there you will find links to the other participating bloggers’ posts (and you can enter THEIR $100 Visa Gift Card giveaways, too!), and you can also enter to win $1000!

my greatest fitness achievement was several years ago when I lost 60 pounds and really just felt great…i put it all back on though (times 2) ๐Ÿ™ and needing to get my butt in gear again. it seemed so much easier when I was home full time with kids that napped (I worked out EVERY day during nap time)

My greatest fitness achievement was taking a pilates class and actually doing all of the excercises along with the instructor. My first class I half-watched, thinking the instructor was INSANE. I wasn't able to keep up, nor was I able to do a single rep of some of the exercises she was doing. By the end of the 8 week class, I could physically do them all, so I signed up for another 8 week class. By the end of that one, I could do everything she instructed AND at her pace. BIG proud moment, there!

I (once) ran a mile in 10 and a half minutes. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but I HATE running and I have asthma so it was a big accomplishment for me.

It takes being fit to be able to sing a two hour concert. So mine was singing at Lincoln Center in New York City. My regular pride is getting to the swimming pool 3 days a week. Thanks for the contest.

It probably doesn't sound like much to most people, but I've dropped seventy-five pounds over the past year and am finally able to make it through an advanced boot camp class. I'm still exhausted afterwards, but I can do all the moves.

My proudest fitness achievement was losing the baby weight from my second pregnancy..see I worked at a candy factory (and the guys would always bring me over little leftovers everynight..and these little leftovers lead to BIG weight gainโ€ฆlike 55 lbs!) So after my daughter was born I became active at the Y we belonged to in aerobics and yoga and cut down on sugar and bad carbs. I lost all the baby weight in 8 months! I was so proud!

I'm currently training for a half marathon and it is so much work! I'm excited for it to be over for the sense of accomplishment AND because I'm getting tired of running!
